Next time you go to get your hair trimmed ask the styleist if they can use some thinning shears - my hair is thick and wavy and brown - my hair is fine there was just alot of it so it was thick, but then they thinned it. Its still very thick but now it gets tangled less often. I also got side bangs which gave my hair a little... ta da, lolzx. The stylist can give you some hair ideas.
For the time being, you can take the top part up into a smaller pony tail which most people would die to have wavy hair with that look. You can also just take the hair on the crown of your scalp up and that looks really cute too. I know this is over done, but really good for the summer - very very very loose loose braids, like make your part, doesn't HAVE to be straight down the middle, where ever u like your part. Then make a few random extremely extremely tiny braids. Then take each side and braid the whole side so there are littler braids inside your whole larger braid. Then shake your head so there are random pieces falling out. Very summery
