If it's long, cut it medium length, if it's short keep it like that. The perm is probably starting to ware off. You can get some frizz hairspray that helps with it in a salon. Then it will be much much easier to straighten your hair!
You could always not cut it just will take longer to straighten. If you do decide to cut it, I would give your hair that you cut off, to a place that makes wigs.
